Why Rview Exists

Buying second-hand items online in New Zealand — whether it's a used car on Trade Me, a vintage piece of furniture in a Facebook Marketplace listing, or a pre-loved appliance on Neighbourly — has always come with an element of risk. Photographs can be misleading, descriptions can be incomplete, and travelling long distances across Aotearoa to inspect an item in person is often simply impractical.

Rview was founded to solve this problem. We created a marketplace that connects buyers with a nationwide network of vetted, community-trusted reviewers who live near the item being sold. These local reviewers physically visit the seller, conduct a thorough inspection, capture high-quality photographs, and deliver a structured report back to the buyer — all before any money changes hands with the seller.

How the Rview Inspection Process Works

The process is simple, transparent, and secure. A buyer submits an inspection request via the Rview platform, providing the item's location and listing details. Local reviewers in that area can then tender to complete the inspection — you review their profiles, ratings, and offered price, and choose the reviewer you're most comfortable with. The reviewer contacts the seller to arrange a time for the visit, carries out the inspection using a standardised checklist, and uploads their findings — including photographs and written notes — directly to the platform.

Payment for the review service is held securely in escrow and only released to the reviewer once the buyer has received and acknowledged the completed inspection report. This escrow model ensures both parties are protected: buyers get an honest report before committing to a purchase, and reviewers are guaranteed fair payment for their work.
